Collection of Poems Vol.1

To Compromise
Compromise, you say?
I can share my pancakes and eggs
if that is what will make
you feel you got your way
I can pour, into many cups,
my bleeding heart
just so you won't feel
I gave too much from the start
Compromise? I say
what happens to the giver
who has nothing left to give?
the taker Stands tall
while the ego replaces where compassion should live
I can compromise...
if compromising is honest and true
But never will I compromise me for you

Railways
Sleepless nights send me afar
I quickly go avoiding scars…

Blurring lights

Passer-byes

No stopping now

Hello – goodbye

Stain & Steel

Keepin’ track

Searchin’ for

All I lack

No looking back

A voice will say

Darkness lurks

Back beyond that way

Engine roars

Within foggy skies

Around the world

There go I

Lookin’, turning…

Over leaves

No longer

Will he look for me

Push and pull

Night turns to day

I feel comfort

Upon these railways…

The Haircut
It's amazing what a haircut can do...
The slow migration uncovers a soul exposed.
And I've been forced to let go,
It's true.
I've tried to hide behind a head full of hair
Getting no where
I decided I needed to care...
for myself.
I've let strangers sleep right next to me,
And I've made friends with my worst enemies.
My hair is no longer the same,
But I'm learning I have no one else to blame.
I have to look
At what is real
Can't keep pretending
I've already healed.
For I wish I could say
That a new hair-do changed everything,
but when I looked in the mirror
The pain still found a way to sting
My flowing tresses
got tangled in lies
and though I've cried
I never let go
So...it's amazing what a haircut can do...
I've come full-circle,
But I'm not brand new...
I'm still the girl
I used to be:
A shattered vase that has been
glued together so nicely...

Falling
Sweaty hands
mind racin'
tongue-tied
a heart embracin'
holding hands
prickled skin
breathless
I let you in
eternally
seein' me; seein' you
judgment falls
one heart; no longer two

An Artist's Tale

There are many ways an artist can put themself out there and get recognized. Without a record deal with major distribution, an artist can feel lost within a sea of many other talented singers, songwriters, producers, djs, etc., wishing upon the same dream. It is difficult to keep one’s sanity while maintaining the demands of living and taking care of oneself, let alone any family one may have to provide for, all the while performing the daunting task of perfecting your craft, marketing yourself, and networking...

I remember when I was a kid, one morning I awoke to my heart racing. I couldn't quite figure out what it was. I got ready for school, went out the door with my lunch pail in hand. It was on my way to school, I started humming a tune. Though this wasn't just any tune, it sent chills down my spine, I had goose bumps. It felt like some driving force leading me, guiding me...

I hummed this catchy unfamiliar song all the way to school. Though at my desk, I couldn't concentrate on anything but this tune, this catchy melody that seemed to have a life of it's own. While my teacher started class I discreetly pulled out a sheet of paper, and started writing. I just flowed words along with this melody, and before I knew it I had a song. I sat back in my seat, and smiled. I just realized I wrote my very first song.

And this is when I knew what I was meant to do...
